Nestled at the bottom of Norwegian sculptor Dyre Vaa´s fairytale bridge, Grød offers a tranquil escape in the heart of the city. You are met with a spacious outdoor seating area with Maroon striped awnings deck where guests can sit overlooking the scenic tree-lined Akerselva river. On the inside, Oslo's first Grød offers a welcoming ambiance, combining inviting customer service with an intimate space filled with a warm terracotta floor, golden wood hues and exposed brick - all dappled with dancing light filtering through from nearby trees.
Omhu aimed to design a space that highlights Grød's inviting spirit, using Frama´s large solid oak Farm House tables as central gathering points to reflect its warmth and hospitality. These communal tables are paired with Hay's newly relaunched Bruno Rey chairs in warm, golden beech, and illuminated by George Sowden's playful CL5 ceiling lamp, featuring bold orange and red bands.
Reconditioned church pews, paired with tubular steel frames from vintage Cesca chairs, line the inner walls of the space. Each pew is hand-painted in a shade slightly deeper than the painted brick walls, where wall-mounted lamps cast an ambient glow over the contemporary palette
The open kitchen embodies transparency and is filled with local, raw ingredients, and chefs ladling grains into hearty portions. The kitchen walls are clad in subtle off-white tile contrasting a playful orange grout, and the counter gleams of dark green Moroccan tiles paired with stainless steel surfaces.
Grød in Grünerløkka is quickly establishing itself as a vibrant community hub where nourishing food, a natural material pallet and a welcoming atmosphere come together in true Danish style to nourish both the body and heart.
